Mastercard: card payments without hidden costs
By Kristaps Birznieks · updated October 2026
Like Visa, Mastercard is a widely used way to deposit. The payment logic is the same, so this page focuses on what usually raises questions: the card's currency, limits, withdrawals and keeping spending under control.
The set of methods and limits depend on the account and the operator — check the cashier to see what your account actually offers.
Card currency and conversion
If your Mastercard is linked to a euro account and the casino account is also in euro, there is no conversion. If the card or the casino account uses a different currency, your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may add a conversion fee. Before your first deposit, check which currency the casino account is in and which currency your card uses. Some cashiers also offer to convert for you at the moment of payment — compare that rate with your bank's before accepting.
Depositing and approval
You choose Mastercard in the cashier, enter the amount and card details, then approve with 3-D Secure in your banking app. When a payment is declined, the usual causes are an online payment limit or an unapproved 3-D Secure step. Sometimes the bank blocks a payment for security reasons; then your bank's support is the place to ask.
Limits in two places
| Where | Who sets it | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Casino account | The operator and you | Set a deposit limit in the account settings |
| Bank | The bank and you | Check the card's online payment limit |
Two limits are better than one: if the casino limit is reached you cannot deposit more, and if the bank limit is low an impulsive payment will not go through.
Withdrawals
Withdrawing to a Mastercard depends on the operator and the card type. If it is not available, the payout goes by bank transfer to an account in your name. Before a withdrawal you may be asked for a photo of the card with the middle digits covered and for an ID card or passport. We do not promise payout times — the operator sets them. Details on withdrawals.
Saved cards and impulses
A saved card turns a deposit into a few seconds' work. During a live table session or in-play betting that is a risk: the decision to top up is taken in the heat of the moment. If you notice you are depositing more than planned, delete the saved card from your account and set a lower limit. Support options are on responsible gambling.
When to choose another method
If you want every payment to appear in your bank history as a separate transfer with the payee's name, pay by bank may suit you better. For larger withdrawals a bank transfer is common. If you have a Visa card, compare with the Visa page. How table minimums affect your budget is covered on table games.
Prepaid and virtual cards
Some players use prepaid or virtual Mastercards to keep gambling money separate from their main account. This can help with budgeting, but check two things: whether the operator accepts such cards for deposits, and whether withdrawals are possible to them — prepaid cards often cannot receive payouts, so you may need a bank account for that.
