Mobile version and apps: phone, tablet and computer
By Kristaps Birznieks · updated October 2026
Most live tables and in-play bets are played on a phone, so the app question is a practical one: do you need it, where do you get it and how do you avoid security mistakes? We do not claim that any particular operator has an app. We explain how to check.
The mobile browser is often enough
Modern casino sites usually work in a mobile browser without installing anything. The live table video, the bet slip and the cashier adapt to the screen. Advantages of the browser: nothing to install, always the latest version, fewer permissions on your phone. The downside: some features, such as push notifications, may not be available.
Android and APK files
On Android you can get an app in two ways: from Google Play or as an APK file downloaded from a website. Whether casino apps are available in a store depends on your country and the store's rules. If a site offers an APK, be careful:
- download the APK only from a site whose operator you have verified in a licence register;
- never install an APK from a chat, forum or email attachment;
- after installing, switch "install unknown apps" off again;
- check the permissions the app asks for. A casino app does not need your contacts or text messages.
iPhone and iPad
Apps for iPhone and iPad are distributed through the App Store. If an operator has an app, you will find it there under the operator's company name. If a site asks you to install a "profile" or an app from outside the App Store, treat that as a warning sign. Many players simply use Safari on the iPhone, and that is perfectly sufficient.
Windows and desktop PCs
On a computer an app is rarely necessary: the browser is the most convenient option. A larger screen helps at live tables, where you see the video, the betting layout and the history at once. If a site offers a Windows program to download, make sure it really comes from the operator.
Mobile play and live tables
Live video uses mobile data, and a dropped connection mid-round means the table rules decide what happens next; in blackjack, for example, a default action may be applied. Play on stable Wi-Fi when you can. Table rules and etiquette are explained in the live casino section, in-play betting in sports betting.
Security on your phone
Use a screen lock, a separate password for your casino account and two-factor authentication where possible. Do not keep passwords in your notes app. If children use the same phone or tablet, never leave the account logged in. Responsible gambling tools are on the responsible gambling page, and mobile sign-up is covered in registration.
A quick checklist before installing anything
- Is the operator in the licence register of your country?
- Does the app or file come from the operator's own domain or an official store listing under its company name?
- Do the requested permissions make sense for a casino or sportsbook app?
- Is the same account used in the browser and in the app, so your limits stay in place?
If any answer is "no" or "not sure", stay in the browser.
